Join our team! We are seeking a Graphic Design Specialist who is passionate about healthcare and our Brooks Mission. The exceptional candidate should be excited about our culture and willing to work onsite in collaboration with the Marketing & Communications team. This person should understand the importance of brand standards, have excellent design skills, be creative and innovative with a strong attention to detail. This position reports to the Marketing & Communications manager and supports the organization's shared needs.

Graphic design

  • Serves as the organization's graphic designer to design and create marketing materials in both traditional and digital formats. Examples include collateral, such as brochures and flyers, digital and social marketing assets, signage, promotional items, event or conference materials, various graphics and more.
  • Functions as the point of contact for all graphic design needs. Responsible for intake and prioritization of requests, fully understanding the objective and audience tied to each request, the deadline and intended use. Asks probing questions to better understand the request, as needed. The specialist also identifies and recommends to stakeholders the best format for the final product and is aware of budget implications, as appropriate.
  • Acts as a brand ambassador to ensure brand standards and compliance, overall.
  • Effectively translates the brand in all designs and executions.
  • Manages outside freelancers, as needed, for overflow work.
  • Ensures the Brooks brand guidelines are always current and documented to accommodate the organization's growth and evolution in accordance with our strategic plan.
  • Challenges oneself to ensure all materials are creative, appropriate and refreshed on an ongoing basis.

Digital Asset Management

  • Responsible for managing digital files and visual assets to include logos, color specifications, images, as well as editable and print-ready design files ensuring they are appropriately categorized and accessible.
  • Uses an organized naming and archiving system to ensure version control and easy access for marketing and sales team members.
  • Ensures the Brooks print portal, project management system and Dropbox storage platforms are accurate, organized and up-to-date.

Print production

  • Prepares design files for print or digital needs according to vendor specifications.
  • Serves as a liaison with print vendors - reviews proofs and attends on-site press checks, as needed.
  • Ensures all materials are brand appropriate.

Additional Responsibilities:

Photography

  • Possesses a general understanding of photography and experience with a marketing department's general needs of photography for various projects and initiatives.
  • Resizes, crops, color-corrects or updates photos and images, as needed.
  • May assist the Brooks photographer/videographer with photo shoots or act as a back-up photographer, as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in graphic design or related field of study.
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of related work experience.
  • Expert in InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat.
  • The ability to operate within brand guidelines and standards while helping to ensure the brand is represented in a consistently compelling way.
  • Experience in the print production process.
  • A portfolio demonstrating a familiarity with marketing design and layout, assembling of multi-page magazines, brochures, ads, digital executions and more.
  • Experience translating a campaign theme and brand into a variety of assets and materials.
  • The ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects with tight deadlines.
  • A proficiency in collaborating with vendors and freelancers and is comfortable collaborating in a team environment.
  • Must be able to have crucial conversations with those requesting materials to understand the need, audience and determine best format for the final product.
  • Ability to ask probing questions to fully understand requests and objectives to ensure delivery of an exceptional product.
  • Experience in photo editing and color correction. Photography experience a plus.
  • A proven ability to manage multiple projects and document and share project statuses and updates.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service skills. Must be a collaborator who is able to interact with a variety of individuals and focused on shared success of the team.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Team player able to work effectively across functions and levels.
  • Strong initiative - able to work independently and in a team setting.
  • Work on site and some travel may be required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Healthcare or big brand organization experience preferred.
  • Experience in creating and executing wayfinding and signage standards.
  • Copy, headline or advertising writing skills a plus.
  • Associated Press style experience a plus.
  • Multimedia communications such as video editing or animation skills are a plus.
  • Project management experience or software such as Trello is a plus.
  • Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other cloud-based content sharing tools.

Hours: Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week
