Position DescriptionTitle: Print Press OperatorDepartment: PrintingImmediate Supervisor: Manufacturing ManagerStatus: Non-ExemptPosition Purpose: Safely operate the Printing Press to meet production goals efficiently. Perform set-ups and ensure that the quality and quantity of the product meets defined standards. The Printing Press Operator is responsible for maintaining equipment and keeping the work area orderly and clean. The Printing Press Operator is expected to follow all production and safety policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Inspect and examine printed products for print clarity, color accuracy, conformance to specifications, and defects.Help conduct press changeovers by cleaning ink pot trays, plates, rollers and cylinders.Assist with mounting plates in proper locations and start the printing process.Ensure that rolls of material are removed at required lengths, bundled and strapped, and properly identified and tagged with all pertinent information.Maintain proper production records of the press.Fill out production tags and labels.Understand and perform all required test and inspections that confirm proper ink viscosity and PH as well as substrate compatibility.Safely set up and run equipment per specifications and run jobs within allotted time frame.Closely monitor all runs during processing, ensuring consistency and high quality throughout every job.Assure that proper counts are achieved and flag all appropriate materials accordingly.Install all inks, plates, and tooling into the press with care and precision.Properly break down all jobs when complete.Responsible for daily basic maintenance and adherence to preventive maintenance schedules.Keep press area and equipment clean and in good operating condition.Must continuously wear safety glasses, safety boots/shoes, hearing protection, and hand protection to avoid a work injury.

PREFERRED EDUCATIONTechnical certification or associate's degree
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE1 year of previous flexographic printing experience
PHYSICAL, AUDITORY, DEXTERITY AND VISUAL DEMANDS
Physical Exertion: 100% of the day, i.e. when standing (60%), sitting and walking (10%), bending and crouching (10%) while conducting work activities; when lifting (5%) buckets of solvent that weigh more than 25lbs; and pushing/pulling (10%) rolls of printed fabric on carts weighing more than 25lbs; and when climbing (5%) ladders.

Visual Concentration: 25% of the day; i.e. when conducting product and equipment inspections, monitoring dials, color matching and reading plant orders and plates.
