Coughlin Pataskala Ford is currently seeking dedicated and motivated individual to join our team as a Production Manager/ Blue Printer. The Auto Body Production Manager/Blue Printer oversees the daily operations of the collision repair shop, ensuring that all repairs are completed efficiently, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards. The Role also responsible for assessing vehicle damage, preparing repair cost estimates, and coordinating the repair process between customers, technicians, and insurance companies. This role involves managing technicians, coordinating workflow, maintaining inventory, and ensuring compliance with safety and industry regulations. The ideal candidate has strong leadership skills, automotive repair knowledge, and a commitment to excellent customer service.
Responsibilities of a Collision Repair Production Manager/Blue Printer
- Manage and coordinate the overall production activities in the auto body shop, including but not limited to scheduling, workflow management, operations, and resource allocation.
- Oversee a team of skilled technicians such as; body shop technician, painters, parts helpers to ensure adherence to quality standards and timelines for repair and painting work.
- Develop and implement production strategies to optimize efficiency, minimize costs, and maximize customer satisfaction.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the performance of the production team and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as the estimating team, parts department, and customer service, to ensure seamless operations and timely completion of projects.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment, adhering to all safety regulations and promoting a culture of safety among the team.
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.
- Monitor labor costs, material usage, and profitability. Manage inventory of parts, tools, and materials. Identify cost-saving opportunities and improve operational efficiency.
- Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and advancements in auto body repair to enhance production processes and deliver exceptional results.
- Damage Assessment – Inspect vehicles to evaluate collision damage and determine the necessary repairs.
- Estimating Repair Costs – Use industry-standard estimating software to calculate labor, parts, and material costs for repairs.
- Insurance Coordination – Work with insurance adjusters to submit estimates, negotiate approvals, and ensure compliance with insurance guidelines.
- Customer Communication – Explain repair procedures, estimated costs, and timelines to customers while addressing any concerns or questions.
- Repair Planning – Coordinate with technicians and parts departments to ensure proper scheduling and availability of required components.
- Documentation & Compliance – Maintain detailed records of estimates, repair orders, and insurance claims while ensuring all estimates meet industry and shop standards.
- Quality Assurance – Conduct follow-up inspections and verify repairs to ensure work meets safety and quality standards before returning the vehicle to the customer.
Qualifications:
Experience:
- Auto Estimating: 5 years (Preferred)
- Experience writing/working with all major DRP programs (State Farm, Geico, Grange, etc.) preferred
- Prior experience working as an insurance adjuster is welcomed
- Parts Trader Experience (preferred)
- ADAS exposure or experience writing & billing (preferred)
- Understanding of gross profit (preferred)
