Job Description:
The Graphic Designer is an in-person position based at Berkshire Community College (BCC). This role is responsible for developing and maintaining the BCC branding guidelines, influencing how the College is perceived in print and online, and contributing to the on-campus visual identity.
The Graphic Designer ensures that internal and external members of the community experience a cohesive and compelling visual environment. The Graphic Designer plays a central part in shaping the BCC narrative through collaborative storytelling and represents the Marketing department at in-person meetings with internal and external partners.
Working on-site at the BCC campus, the Graphic Designer creates purpose-driven, branded graphic design that supports the College's strategic goals. This position requires daily collaboration with colleagues in the Marketing and Communications Office and other on-campus departments. The role involves managing the full lifecycle of design projects from concept to physical or digital delivery while upholding consistent branding and high-quality standards.
Design projects may include, but are not limited to:
- Print and electronic marketing materials
- Campus-wide signage
- Publications
- Web graphics
This role also includes on-campus event photography, support for on-site printing needs, and organization of the College's digital assets. The Graphic Designer builds and maintains relationships with on-campus stakeholders and local vendors to ensure alignment with BCC's brand identity.
This role also is responsible for other duties, as assigned.
Requirements:
- Associate's degree with formal graphic design training
- A minimum of 3 years of professional design experience
- Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite, including Premier, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and Acrobat
- Experience with filming, editing, and publishing content for commercials, streaming, or social media platforms
- Demonstrated ability to create visually effective designs, both technically and aesthetically
- Experience with the four-color printing process and printing services
- Ability to create content following established brand guidelines or ensuring brand standards in presentations and communications
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage effectively with a diverse campus community
- Ability to work in-person as part of a campus-based team
- Able to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines independently
- Maintains discretion and demonstrates professionalism at all times
Preferred Qualifications:
- Hands-on knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, and content management systems
- Background in designing wayfinding or branded signage to enhance visual appeal or campus navigation
- Higher education experience
- Familiarity using Fiery printing software
- Familiarity with project management software, preferably Asana
- Experience developing high-impact presentations with animation, audio, and video
