Job Summary and Qualifications

Under general supervision, is responsible for performing general art work at the professional level, designing/creating graphics to meet specific communications or marketing needs, e.g. branding, advertising, publications, etc. Utilize knowledge in all advanced design programs to achieve artistic and attractive effects for needs of customers. Minimum Education, Experience, Training, Required

Knowledge, Skill, Abilities and Other Job-Related Characteristics:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with preferable coursework in Graphics Design or a related field or
  • Experience: Six (6) years of increasingly responsible experience in working with projects of varied size and complexity in the areas of graphics.
  • Employee completes initial and ongoing training and competencies as defined by service line, facility and department/unit which are specific to the needs of the patient population served (if applicable).

Minimum License, Certificates, or Registrations Required: None

Essential Job Functions:

  • Develop graphics and layouts for product illustrations using company logos; create designs, concepts, and sample layouts, based on layout principles and esthetic design concepts.
  • Consult with client requestors, both external and internal, to discuss and determine layout design and advises on strategies to reach a particular audience and determine the message the visual design should portray.
  • Create effective visual designs that identify a product or convey a message to include determining the size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy, and select style and size of type.
  • Produce and present preliminary design to clients or department director for review and approval.
  • Incorporates changes recommended by the clients into the final design; review final layouts and suggest improvements as needed; review designs for errors before printing or publishing them.
  • Resolve design and technical issues through an understanding of the business and design principles to produce and execute final design through printing, launching via interactive multimedia.

Additional Job Functions:

  • Assume Print Center Coordinator duties in her/her absence along with other duties as assigned.
  • Supports the mission and vision of the Methodist Healthcare System. Understands and is committed to helping the Methodist Healthcare System and its associated facilities achieve its goals.
  • Must learn and comply with System and facility safety policies and rules; must use appropriate safety equipment and procedures at all times; must immediately report all unsafe conditions to supervisors; must be familiar with all safety features of equipment, tools or materials encompassed by job duties; and must check with supervisors (prior to job performance) if there is a question as to the safe procedure to be used for any job function.
