Digital PrePress Operator
Department:Operations Indirect - PrePress
Location:North Las Vegas, NV
Job Summary: The main responsibilities for the Digital Prepress Operator are to evaluate and preflight customer artwork, prepare art per job specifications, adjust color, create Epson proofs, prepare imposed job files, and create printing plates. This position also interacts frequently with other departments.
Essential Job Functions:
The list of essential functions, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the tasks performed within this classification. It is not necessarily descriptive of any one position in the class. The omission of an essential function does not preclude management from assigning duties not listed herein if such functions are a logical assignment to the position.
Evaluate artwork to determine if it meets production specifications and communicate with Customer Care regarding usability and artwork requirements.
Inspect each job ticket for proper number out, materials (stock, overlay, foils, inks, and plates) mag stripe (appropriate to lock system), notes/instructions from sales, and total quantity including sub jobs.
Create digital proofs to be sent to clients for approval.
Proof all work prior to sending to other departments.
Prepare files for production, including trapping and color adjustment.
Create impositions and generate plates through Kodak Prinergy.
Monitor press schedule and make sure plates are ready for press on time.
Inspect plates for every job: proper sensor marks, cut marks, etc.
Verify all color separations are plated and clipped together with corresponding job ticket.
Keep plates labeled, organized, and stored in designated areas.
Maintain production equipment such as proofers, plate processors and imagers.
Perform other duties as requested.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent of five years related experience in related field.
Proficiency in the use of Macintosh and PC computers, as well as electronic publishing systems.
Proficiency in the use of desktop publishing and graphic software, to include Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat. Requires the ability to manipulate or modify industry standard file formats such as PDF, EPS, TIFF, and JPEG.
Kodak Prinergy, Color Flow and/or Preps experience a PLUS.
Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interpret oral and written instructions.
Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
Ability to understand and demonstrate depth perception, color separation and saturation.
Ability to work with minimal supervision to meet deadlines.
