Essential Job Duties:The graphic designer will provide design, layout, digital and print production services for CALS Communications on an as-needed basis during the contract period.
Duties Include:
- Create visual representations of a clients ideas using images, symbols, and text. This could include designs for websites, posters, books, magazines, product packaging, and more
- Place final content and images into a print layout using Adobe InDesign. Layout may be adjusted as necessary to accommodate the needs dictated by the content
- Use best practices to design for accessibility within the InDesign file (see Using Adobe InDesign to Create Accessible PDF Documents)
- Use the Acrobat Accessibility Check tool to check the exported interactive PDF file and resolve any accessibility issues. Ensure the following accessibility features within the PDF file:
- Logical reading order
- Alt-text for all figures and images
- Accessible tables with tagged headers
- Properly tagged content
- Obtain proof approvals from Department contacts before finalizing the design project
- Generate web-friendly or print-ready PDF files depending on project requirements
