Position Title : Graphic Designer

Reports to: Vice President for Marketing

Supervises: Potential Work Study Students

Primary functions: Work as part of the Marketing and Communications team on the design and production of print and electronic publications that enhance the visibility, understanding, and perception of Saint Vincent College and its mission, vision, goals, activities, and accomplishments. Work as an advocate of the Colleges visual brand with stakeholders across campus.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelors degree in graphic design, art, or a related field.
  • Experience: Three to five (3-5) years experience in a graphic design environment, with a strong portfolio showing expertise in a variety of deliverables including ads, digital graphics, multi-page publications, and more that demonstrate proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite.

Essential duties:

  1. Create and design core marketing and communications collateral for the College including print publications, brochures, and postcards, digital graphics and ads, signage and environmental branding, and more.
  2. Provide art direction and design on the Saint Vincent College Magazine ( 1846 ), including presentation of cover concepts, layout, and individual article designs.
  3. Participate in the collaborative generation of creative concepts for College marketing and uphold the consistency and presence of the SVC visual brand.
  4. Coordinate all elements of the printing process including obtaining quotes, preflighting and packaging files, designating client accounts, and coordinating the proofing process.
  5. Oversee and guide the design efforts by other stakeholders working on behalf of the Office of Marketing and Communications including freelance contractors, student workers, external vendors, and others.
  6. Serve as the Office of Marketing and Communications visual brand champion with departments and individuals throughout the Saint Vincent community, communicating the importance of consistency in design and presentation in all publications, advertising, and promotions.
  7. Work with the Vice President for Marketing to maintain and expand upon the Colleges visual brand strategy.
  8. Track all design efforts and projects flowing through the Office of Marketing and Communication for a consistent accounting of workload, capacity, and turnaround times.

Other duties:

  1. Collaborate within the Office of Marketing and Communications to assist with other tasks related to visual content production, photography, and other core tasks aligned with the individual skillset.
  2. Work within the Office of Marketing and Communications to create and be a part of an efficient project workflow in which design projects are considered in the context of larger initiatives related to recruitment, alumni stewardship, and more.
  3. Research current and future trends in web and print design and incorporate them into the conceptualization and production of College collateral.
  4. Other duties as assigned.

Special challenges and environment:

Performs in a fast-paced office environment that requires quick responses to internal and external requests, managing many deadline-oriented projects concurrently, and maintaining high quality standards for all visual content promoting the College. Work will be highly visible by core College stakeholders, up to and including executive leadership.

10% local/regional travel is required.
