Summary of Position: This position is responsible for performing set-up, folder operation and routine maintenance of the Goss Community 4 high Coldset Web Press. Duties and Responsibilities: • Promote team work. • Accurately follow instructions from the job ticket and set up or direct set-up of press based on instructions. • Rapid set up and turn around. • Ensure ink is set to proper ink densities. • Run press at an average press speed of 17,000 copies per hour. • Monitor product quality and provide top-notch customer service. • Responsible for accurate counts on the press run reports. • Responsible for meeting current spoilage, waste, and production goals on press. • Ensure quality reproduction by identifying and addressing quality problems. • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows safety regulations. • Responsible for carrying out planned maintenance on press and related equipment as per maintenance schedules. • Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions. • Demonstrate good safety behavior and expect same from assistant, hold tool box safety meetings. • Operate or assist on other jobs when workload dictates. • Complete all related computer and paperwork. • Other duties as assigned by Pressroom Manager and Lead Operator. Educational Requirements and Experience: • 2 + years web offset printing experience. • Ability to run any coldset, non-uv heatset press with 100% continuous efficiency. • Experience running Goss 4 high or community single wide press desirable. • Mechanical ability. • Self-motivated, good problem solving skills and detail oriented. • Strong communication skills. • Team Player. • Ability to perform troubleshooting functions. Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Understand offset web printing principles. • Ability to use hand held measuring devices and tools. • Must be familiar with all machines required to perform printing. • Able to perform press set-ups and utilize the required tools. • Must be physically able to perform all functions related to press operation. • Must have good math skills - count papers, bundles and layers to insure accurate quantities. • Must be able to follow directions and make decisions. • Must have mechanical aptitude. • Must be able to work independently and/or with team oriented environment. Physical Demands: • Regularly required move about the facility. • Must be able to lift 100 pounds. • Must have good vision and good hand-eye coordination. • Must be able to walk, climb ladders and stand for long periods of time. • Must be able to work long hours, weekends and holidays.
