Bindery Specialist & Digital Press Operator

Position Overview:

The Bindery Specialist and Digital Press Operator is responsible for the production of printed materials using digital presses and the finishing/bindery equipment. This role demands a keen eye for detail, strong mechanical aptitude, and a dedication to producing superior-quality work on deadline.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate digital presses (e.g., Canon, Xerox, or Ricoh presses) to produce high-quality printed materials

  • Operate bindery equipment including cutters, folders, booklet makers, coil binding machines, and laminators

  • Perform quality control checks throughout production to ensure print accuracy, color consistency, and proper finishing

  • Troubleshoot minor mechanical and print issues to minimize downtime

  • Accurately set up and adjust machines for various projects and specifications

  • Finish printed jobs to specifications including trimming, folding, stitching, laminating, and binding

  • Organize and stage projects for shipping, delivery, or further processing

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment

  • Assist with inventory management of papers, supplies, and consumables

  • Collaborate with the production and customer service teams to meet client deadlines and quality expectations

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training is a plus

  • 1-3 years of experience in digital press operation and/or bindery equipment operation preferred but not required

  • Ability to lift 40–50 lbs and stand for extended periods

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working with machinery

  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality

  • Ability to follow detailed instructions, job tickets, and production schedules

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot mechanical and quality issues

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

  • Basic computer skills

  • Knowledge of printing terminology and finishing processes highly desirable
