Job Summary
The lead pressperson is responsible for effectively managing the press and crew with priorities given to the highest level of productivity, quality, and profitability.
Primary Duties
Set up press to job ticket details and work instruction.
Set up and maintain color and keep color throughout the run.
Meet and exceed production and quality goal set by management.
Communicate issues and job status with management
Troubleshoot/repair common mechanical problems as well as performing routing maintenance.
Train and supervise other members of press crew
Experience
Must have large format, KBA experience.
Must have Heidelberg 6/40 experience.
Must have 5 + years experience as a lead press operator in a high volume commercial print shop.
Strong mechanical experience and ability to trouble shoot and repair equipment.

Responsibilities:
Operate Heidelberg Quick Master DI and all required department equipment without supervision. Some minor troubleshooting and repair will also be required.
Perform all press operations from make-ready, run, to clean-up.
Proactively identify, analyze and resolve problems that arise with production.
Manage ever-changing deadlines.
Document actions by completing production and quality logs as required.
Perform all press operator functions as noted on the work order/job tickets.
Interface with the Customer Service Representative (CSR) and/or the Graphic Designer
Maintain knowledge of safety requirements of job and equipment; be familiar with Material Safety Data Sheets regarding chemicals used.
Clean and maintain equipment and work area following maintenance procedures and update maintenance logs.
Inform supervisor of equipment problems.
Required Skills and Experience
High School or GED equivalent.
Minimum of 2 years experience on a Heidelberg Quickmaster DI
Good mathematical skills
Able to apply written instructions to machine set-up and maintenance.
Able to move freely throughout the building and to lift paper as needed
Meet or exceed minimum test results as designated by hiring manager.

* Problem solve basic issues to complete production, delivery, and output requirements

Places service calls when necessary. Interacts with equipment service technicians. Maintains equipment service records.
Ensures adequate supplies are available for the next shift.
Maintains an orderly work environment. Follows established pre-process, in-process and post-process work procedures.

1 year experience operating high speed copiers/printers. But willing to train.
1 year experience working in a color production environment
General knowledge of reprographic industry terminology.
Familiarity with Microsoft Windows required.
Knowledge of desktop publishing software preferred.
Customer service and good interpersonal skills are required. Must be very courteous. Must be able to explain procedures to end users and instruct other operators on the status of jobs and equipment.
