SUMMARY: The Electrical/Mechanical Technician performs essential preventative and repair maintenance to printing presses, auxiliary equipment, and the facility. This position directly impacts the overall productivity of the facility by increasing the effectiveness of our presses and decreasing the amount of money lost due to waste and unplanned downtime. Increased efficiencies from effective maintenance enhances our ability to meet critical customer deadlines and maintain the quality of our product.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Troubleshoots electro-mechanical problems and repairs printing presses and their auxiliary equipment utilizing schematics and blueprints, manufacturer's specification data sheets, computers, and PLC's.
Helps maintain a safe work environment by performing routine maintenance tasks and repairs to the facility and equipment as required.
Maintains accurate Preventative Maintenance Control (PMC) records, including labor and inventory for all work performed throughout division's departments utilizing the PMC computer system.
Works mandatory scheduled or unscheduled overtime as directed, minimizing press downtime.
Maintains communication with the maintenance leadership, pressroom supervisor, and press crews to ensure that work can be performed in a timely manner. Consistently works with a sense of urgency when performing tasks to minimizing press downtime
Performs all other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS (Specific knowledge, skills, education and abilities):
High school or GED completion; vocational trade school or equivalent experience preferred ·
3+ years of experience in electro-mechanical maintenance
Ability to understand, speak and read basic English.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as schematics, blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Knowledge of commonly used electrical concepts, practices, and procedures
Ability to operate all power tools commonly found in a maintenance shop
Demonstrates initiative and ability to work without close supervision
*Must be able to frequently perform the following: stand, bend, crawl, stoop, twist, climb ladders, work from lifts/scaffolds up to 40 feet, and lift up to 50 lbs.
Description:
SUMMARY: The Press Operator III is part of a printing crew and is responsible for a wide variety of production related tasks necessary for the safe, efficient and accurate operation of the press. The Press Operator III will assist with make-ready activities, verify production schedules and instructions, and complete quality control paperwork. The incumbent is responsible for training junior crewmembers and assisting in roll tending activities as required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinate with Press Operator I and II and assist on all pre-make ready and make ready functions.
Communicate with supervisor and senior press crew to verify production schedules and instructions
Checks job set-up parameters with the job ticket specifications to ensure accurate setup
Complete accurate paperwork related to paper usage.
Ability to perform all roll tending activities including: preparing rolls for splicing, stripping, repairing, loading, splice setting and splicer operation.
Monitors ink fountain and tote levels, press chemistry, web aligners and all other auxiliary equipment and/or process components as assigned.
Evaluates product quality and takes corrective measures as necessary (i.e. color, register, fold, compensation, skidding). Monitors all printing and press related processes and makes adjustments as necessary.
Completes quality control procedures and required QA documents
Provides direction, training and guidance to junior crewmembers
Follows all company and OSHA safety regulations and encourages safe work habits from other crewmembers
Performs other duties as assigned in effort to help department achieve performance objectives.
