Job Title: Production Artist Company: Southern Graphic Systems Location: Florence, KY Description: Southern Graphic Systems (SGS), a world leader in packaging graphics, provides innovative "Design-2-Print" solutions to enhance brand identity and improve our clients "Speed-to-Market" demands. Our services include package design, prepress, imaging and management of the entire brand development and execution cycle. SGS works with many of the world's preeminent consumer product goods companies and retail merchants, as well as the manufacturers and printers that support them. We are currently seeking an experienced Production Artist to join one of our production teams. This position will perform complex packaging layouts using desktop software applications. Responsibilities: Review job ticket instructions to determine requirements of job production. Participate in planning meetings when necessary. Using appropriate software applications (Illustrator, Photoshop, Quark, and CS suites including Indesign) to build packaging layouts Build client mock-ups of final files using appropriate substrates. QC all work performed following the department SOP's. Check, sign-off, and date checklists. Update Customer Service regarding job status. Make sure all jobs and materials are properly charged. When handing off jobs to co-workers, clearly communicate any information for them to complete the job. Work OT when required. Attend necessary meetings when required or requested. Assist in the development of written procedures as new clients and projects are added. Qualifications: Trade school certificate in Graphic Arts/Printing or equivalent experience. A minimum of 3 years experience using Illustrator and Photoshop (CS Suite) producing packaging layouts in a prepress environment; packaging file experience is required.
