MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:Read and interpret job information on order to determine bindery operation and specification to be performed.Sets up and operates most entry level bindery equipment including but not limited to: drill punch, folder, collators, off-line numbering machines, paper cutter, padding press and poly wrapper as required.Makes a continuous quality check throughout operations.Insert completed quality check throughout operation.Insert completed product into boxes.May use various methods and equipment for counting, spooning, padding, etc.Performs kitting or fulfillment functions that involve assembling different materials into open item as per customer specifications.Checks over quality checklist from previous departments to ensure consistent and accurate information before running order.Performs basic shipping and receiving duties. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Ensure that all operations are carried out at the minimum cost consistent with quality standards.Maintains a high degree of employee motivation and morale, departmental and interdepartmental cooperation.Maintains and complies with policies, procedures and practices relating to operations of the plant.Must be able to work out side normal working hours to accommodate production needs when required.Keeps current with rapidly changing technology associated with Standard Register’s requirements.Ensures that all related equipment is in proper operating condition.Assists others as production needs require. We are currently looking for an experienced bindery machine operator with a great attitude to set up, operate and maintain perfect binder for the production of magazines and catalogs. Responsibilities ? Perform set up, make ready and operation of bindery equipment. ? Ensure that production goals are met. ? During job run pulls and inspects hourly run samples to ensure quality standards are not being met. Checks include glue penetration, position of cover on book, signature placement in book, signature match with folded and gathered signatures in job ticket and trim size. ? Coordinate the assignment of crewmembers. ? Provide training for new team members. ? Complete and maintains daily production reports. ? Review job ticket for binding style prior to job run. ? On a weekly basis perform preventive maintenance on glue pots, mill station, signature clamps, trimmer, and cover feeder; check bearing on conveyor belts and grease or oil all moving equipment parts. ? Maintain equipment and work area cleanliness by cleaning glue pots, cover feeder, mill station and signature clamps to ensure its optimum operation. ? Practice all job, department and company safety procedures. ? Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned. ? Folder and Cutter experience a plus. Required Experience 2 - 5+ Years experience with bindery folding experience strongly preferred. Must be able to work in a team environment.
